Sixteen Neptunes were manoeuvred onto the washland on the river side to form a rigid box around the breach.  Tarpaulins were let down the side of the amphibians over the tracks and weighted down with sandbags to help to hold back the water from the river then the gap in the bank was filled with bags of clay.  After the bank was repaired the amphibians were recovered and removed
