The Boat public house under water at Brownshill Staunch, beside the river just under a mile north of The Pike and Eel public house at the western end of Overcote Road in Over.  The lock gates and associated apparatus are visible in the river.  A short distance further north is where the bank burst on 16 March 1947 causing the river to flood into Over Fen.  The Boat never recovered from the damage and it was demolished in 1949.
